How I Got Here

Hi, I’m Pumela Sizani a Screenwriter and Content Creator from ​Port Elizabeth, South Africa. In 2019 I graduated from The SAE ​Institute in Berlin Germany with a degree in Digital Film ​Production. In 2021, I then became a finalist for the Multichoice ​Talent Factory Screenwriting Incubator facilitating my relocation ​to Johannesburg, South Africa. For a year I worked and learned ​from the seasoned storyliners of Emmy and SAFTA nominated ​telenovelas, gaining an immense insight on the different writing ​rooms of these Multichoice and Tshedza Pictures shows from The ​River, Legacy, Giyani, The Queen, etc.

After graduating from the incubator in 2022, I was fortunate ​enough to be selected as a Multichoice True Icons writer to ​watch. I then went on to write for these shows and become a ​part of the SAFTA nominated writing team for the final season of ​The River and season 3 of Giyani: Land of Blood and Water.

I now continue to work as a freelance writer in writing rooms for ​drama series due to be released on streaming platforms like ​Netflix and Amazon Studios all with the goal to soon see my own ​original film and television projects on these sites soon.
